There is a fable of an eagle which could outfly another, and the other didn’t like it. The latter saw a sportsman one day, and said to him—
“I wish you would bring down that eagle.”
The sportsman replied that he would if he only had some feathers to put into the arrow. So the eagle pulled one out of his wing. The arrow was shot, but didn’t quite reach the rival eagle; it was flying too high. The envious eagle pulled out more feathers, and kept pulling them out until he lost so many that he couldn’t fly, and then the sportsman turned round and killed him.
My friend, if you are jealous, the only man you can hurt is yourself.

Here are a few verses on the subject of jealousy: (thought of the day)
Job 5:2 (KJV) 2 For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
Proverbs 6:34 (KJV) 34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
Proverbs 14:30 (KJV) 30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Proverbs 27:4 (KJV) 4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
1 Corinthians 13:4 (KJV) 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
This is just a few verses on the subject of envy (jealousy). This one area of emotion has brought down many throughout history. Keep this in mind when you feel it coming upon you. It is like a cancer and continuing with jealousy will eventually only hurt yourself until you are consumed with it.
